This is the Spouse/Traveling Companions’ Tour

Your trip to Nevada would not be complete without a visit to the Masonic Lodges in our Northern Nevada area. We will depart from the Peppermill and travel south to Carson City, Nevada’s State Capitol and home to Cason Lodge #1, the first Lodge in the State dating back to 1862.

Our next stop is in the historic town of Genoa, one of the first settlements in Nevada and home to
Douglas Lodge #12, established in 1868.

We depart Genoa and travel to Virginia City for a picnic lunch, and a visit to Escurial Lodge #7, where the first Masonic Convention in Nevada was held. We will have time to explore this historic town, complete with wooden sidewalks.

Time permitting, we will return to Reno with a stop at the Grand Lodge before returning to the Peppermill.

Attire for this tour is casual, with comfortable walking shoes.

We depart from the Peppermill and travel south to Nevada’s State Capitol, Carson City. Upon arrival, we will tour the Governor’s Mansion in Carson City with a docent who will share the history and stories behind this historic building.

Next we will enjoy a catered luncheon in the beautiful Nevada Room located on the Mansion grounds.

Following lunch, we will travel to the Marjorie Russell Clothing and Textile Research Center to enjoy costumes and textile collections of over 10,000 artifacts, and will have a short tour of the Capital Buildings. In addition to a women’s collection ranging from the 18th century to today’s fashions, we will see an outstanding collection of quilts, hats, flags, children and men’s wear, and more.

We will return to Reno in the late afternoon.

Jump on the Jungle Kart Go-Kart Race, enjoy laser tag in the two-story fully immersive laser tag area, experience miniature golf on the 18-hole, fully landscaped golf course and don’t miss out on the competition-level lanes of the exciting bowling lanes. All these activities will be included for your enjoyment.

This tour does not include a meal; participants (who are not attending the Supreme Installation luncheon) are encouraged to purchase Tuesday’s “grab/go” luncheon offered through our Registration/Meal program.

Lake Tahoe and Historic Truckee Tour

We will depart from the Peppermill and travel over the Sierra Nevadas arriving in the Lake Tahoe basin, seeing the best of the Lake Tahoe area all in one tour! We will learn all about the history, facts and legends of the largest and second deepest Alpine Lake in North America. We will stop in Tahoe City, visit the infamous Fanny Bridge and the Gatekeepers Cabin, located on the banks of the Truckee River and Lake Tahoe. We travel along the Truckee River, stop at Squaw Valley, the site of the 1960 Winter Olympics and then on to Donner Memorial State Park, for a photo stop at the site of the Donner Camp, where members of the ill-fated Donner Party were trapped by weather during the winter of 1846–1847. We complete our tour with a fun and enchanting visit to the historic town of Truckee, with boutiques, ice cream shops, visitor center, museums and more.

This tour does not include lunch, but there will be time and opportunities in Truckee.

We will depart from the Peppermill and travel to beautiful world-renowned Lake Tahoe. Upon arrival at Zephyr Cove, there will have time to take photos, walk on the beach and put your toes in this pristine Alpine Lake. Next, we will board the MS Dixie, a paddlewheel river boat, for a three-hour, 3-course dinner cruise on Lake Tahoe. The lake tour is fully narrated, providing the history and folklore surround this special place while enjoying a hosted dinner. Following dinner, the cruise continues into Emerald Bay; we will view Vikingsholm Castle, Devils Island, and Rainbow Falls all while dancing the night away under the beautiful Lake Tahoe stars!

Attire for this evening is casual. Guests will want to bring a light sweater or jacket.

Governor’s Mansion Luncheon with Historic Carson City

We depart from the Peppermill and travel south to Nevada’s State Capitol, Carson City.

Upon arrival, we will tour the Governor’s Mansion with a docent providing the history and stories behind this historic building. Following our tour, we will depart for Virginia City, once a rip-roaring Mining Town in the 1880’s. It will be a step-back in time as you explore this authentic Gold Mining Town. Your first stop will be at the V&T Railroad Train Depot for an exciting 35-minute ride on the historic train route to Gold Hill. Hear all about the history and legends of the Comstock from the comfort of your seat. Next, we arrive in the heart of Virginia City with time to visit the historic area of Virginia City. Stroll the wooden sidewalks, visit the Bucket of Blood Saloon, visit the museum, shops, boutiques and enjoy lunch on your own. Return to Reno in the afternoon.
